On Friday, March 7, 2025, the Parliament of Ghana approved the appointment of four new deputy ministers following a rigorous vetting process by the Appointments Committee. These appointments aim to bolster leadership across critical government portfolios.
Newly appointed deputy ministers:
- John Dumelo – Deputy Minister for Food and Agriculture
- Clement Apaak – Deputy Minister for Education
- Thomas Ampem Nyarko – Deputy Minister for Finance
- Samson Ahi – Deputy Minister for Trade, Agribusiness, and Industry
Additional ministerial appointments:
Parliament also approved several other key appointments, including Lydia Lamisi Akanvariba as Minister of State for Public Sector Reforms. Ebenezer Okletey Terlabi has been confirmed as Deputy Minister for the Interior, and Richard Gyan-Mensah will serve as Deputy Minister for Energy and Green Transition.
Further deputy ministerial appointments include:
- Justice Srem-Sai – Deputy Minister for Justice and Attorney General
- Ernest Brogya Genfi – Deputy Minister for Defence
- Alhassan Suhuyini – Deputy Minister for Roads and Highways
These appointments follow the adoption of the twelfth and thirteenth reports of the Appointments Committee, with nominees vetted between February 24 and February 27, 2025, and subsequently recommended for approval by the House.
The newly appointed deputy ministers are expected to assume their roles promptly, working collaboratively to implement government policies and drive national development across their respective sectors.
