Minister of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George
Starting today, July 1, 2025, mobile data users in Ghana will get more data without paying more, this follows a new order from the Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations.
The Minister of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George announced last month that all three major mobile networks MTN Ghana, Telecel Ghana and AT Ghana must give customers more data in their existing bundles without changing the price.
At a press event on June 10, George said these changes are meant to give users better value and make the market fairer. He said all data bundles will now include at least 10 percent more data. For example, a GH₵400 bundle that used to give 195 gigabytes will now give 236 gigabytes.
MTN Ghana has also been asked to bring back its GH₵399 bundle, which had been changed before. That bundle had been reduced to GH₵350 and gave 92.88 gigabytes. From today, it goes back to GH₵399 and now gives 214 gigabytes. All MTN bundles will also have 15 percent more data from today.
AT Ghana and Telecel Ghana have also updated their bundles. AT Ghana’s GH₵400 bundle now gives 236 gigabytes, up from 195 gigabytes. Telecel Ghana’s GH₵400 bundle now gives 250 gigabytes, which is a big jump from the earlier 90 gigabytes.
Mr George thanked the heads of the mobile companies for agreeing to cover the cost of these changes so that users can get more data right away. He said it will cost the companies a lot but will help people across the country.
To make sure all networks follow the new rules, the National Communications Authority has been asked to monitor the changes. It will also begin regular checks later this year to make sure people are being charged correctly.
The Minister said more steps are being planned to lower data prices in the future. These include talks with the Ministries of Finance and Energy to reduce taxes and other costs in the telecom sector. He said if taxes are reduced, data prices will also go down.
The Minister stated that he is working hard to fix the problems in the ministry. He promised to serve users and network providers with full effort and care.
With these new bundles now active, mobile users in Ghana will enjoy more value and better service going forward.
