Osei Kwame, known locally as “Nsafufoo,” was arrested recently for wearing a police uniform without authorisation. A video of him circulating online showed him in full police attire while clearly intoxicated.
The arrest took place in Antoakrom, within the Manso Nkwanta District of the Ashanti Region.
According to CitNewsroom, Police say Kwame is currently in custody and cooperating with ongoing investigations.
The Ghana Police Service has reminded the public that impersonating officers and wearing official uniforms without permission is illegal and undermines the trust the community places in the police.
Separately, on October 14, 2024, the Ghana Armed Forces issued a warning against civilians wearing military-style uniforms, stating that such acts are illegal and create security risks by misleading the public.
The Armed Forces noted that only authorized personnel may wear military attire, referring to the National Liberation Council Decree 177 of 1967.
