Ghanaian singer and songwriter Moliy has shared her reasons for staying independent, citing the importance of creative freedom and trust in her artistic journey.
In an interview with Revolt TV, the “Shake It to the Max” star revealed that she’s always been hesitant to sign with a record label due to industry stories and a desire for organic, trustworthy relationships. “I’ve always been kind of hesitant to be a label artiste… I want to trust the people I work with,” she said.
Moliy stressed that music is personal to her, and she refuses to be “just a name on a list.” Any future label deal, she noted, would need to be built on a genuine connection not just business.
She praised the freedom that independence brings: “The most freeing part is just getting to do what I want creatively without someone telling me what to do.” Still, she acknowledged the hustle involved: “If you’re not pushing yourself… no one is gonna do it for you.”
