The Esports World Cup 2025 officially opened last night in Riyadh with a grand ceremony at Boulevard City’s ANB Arena. The event marked the start of what is being called the biggest and most ambitious esports tournament in history.

The opening ceremony blended music, lights, technology, and global pop culture. Post Malone performed live, followed by energetic sets from K-pop star DINO of SEVENTEEN, rapper Duckwrth, rock vocalist Telle Smith, and DJ Alesso, who performed alongside Grammy-nominated cellist Tina Guo.

The night also featured the debut of the tournament’s official anthem, Til My Fingers Bleed, performed live on stage to capture the energy and spirit of professional gaming.
In addition to the entertainment, the event highlighted Saudi Arabia’s growing role in the global esports scene. With a record-breaking 70 million dollar prize pool, the Esports World Cup 2025 brings together over 2,000 professional players, 200 clubs, and 25 tournaments across 24 popular titles.
Cristiano Ronaldo, one of the event’s global ambassadors, made a virtual appearance along with chess champion Magnus Carlsen, symbolizing the connection between traditional sports and competitive gaming.
Fireworks, drone displays, and stadium-wide visuals lit up the Riyadh sky as fans filled the arena and fan zones. Millions more tuned in around the world through the official tournament broadcast, EWC Spotlight, produced with IMG.

The ceremony set the stage for seven weeks of elite competition, entertainment, and global fan engagement, placing Riyadh firmly on the map as a new epicenter for international esports.
