WAEC to Release Withheld WASSCE Results on February 28
The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has closed the Adventist Day Senior High School examination centre in Kumasi after several mobile phones were confiscated from candidates during the ongoing West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
Head of Public Affairs at WAEC, John Kapi, announced at a press briefing on Friday, September 5, 2025, that the drastic measure was taken to safeguard the integrity of the exams.
The affected students have since been relocated to WAEC’s regional office in Kumasi, where they will continue their papers under heightened supervision.
This development comes amid a wave of malpractice cases recorded in this year’s WASSCE, with at least 14 arrests involving students, teachers, and invigilators across the country.
WAEC has assured that results from all implicated centres will undergo strict scrutiny before being released.
