The lifeless body of a five-year-old girl has been recovered in Adom, a suburb of Atebubu in the Bono East Region, three days after she was reported missing.
The victim, identified as Makimor Yagyeger, was discovered floating in stagnant water and retrieved by personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) after eyewitnesses raised an alarm.
Confirming the incident, Atebubu GNFS Station Officer 1, Kabori Sakari, urged residents to exercise caution around water bodies, particularly during the rainy season.
The death has shocked the community, with residents calling for a full investigation amid suspicions of foul play. They are demanding justice for the young girl.
The body has been handed over to police for autopsy and further investigation.
