The Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe Abronye, popularly known as Abronye DC, has rejected accusations that he or other party officials have indicated their intentions to rig votes in favor of Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia during the January 2026 presidential primaries.
According to him, the former Vice President does not need any foul play in his favor to win the upcoming primary, as all things point to an unwavering support from the party’s delegates.
In an interview on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem on Monday, Abronye DC explained that his confidence in Dr. Bawumia stems from direct interactions with party delegates who have pledged to fully support the former Veep.
“Bawumia doesn’t need anyone to steal votes for him to become the presidential candidate. The fresh air around the NPP shows that delegates are ready to support him, and we are not ready to change him,” he said.
“I went to campaign, and I know what I am saying. I spoke with polling station executives who will come out and vote massively. When I support Bawumia, I meet those who vote, and they have told me they will endorse him,” he added.
The NPP Bono Regional Chairman also addressed rumors surrounding a video that allegedly captured him threatening to remove names from the delegate register, arguing that the video had been manipulated.
“The original video clearly shows that I said Bawumia doesn’t need anyone to steal votes. I never said I was going to remove anyone’s name from the album. Those making noise should stop,” he insisted.
Following sightings of the said video, there have been demands from Kennedy Agyapong’s campaign team for disciplinary actions against Abronye DC and the Ashanti Regional Chairman Bernard Antwi Boasiako, AKA Chairman Wontumi, accusing the two of behavior that could potentially derail party unity.
In response to these criticisms and calls for sanctions, Abronye questioned the legitimacy of those calling for action against him, arguing that their demands lacked grounds as they are not listed in the delegates’ register.
“How can someone who is not even listed in the album have a say in who endorses Bawumia? Their names are not even on the register, so why make so much noise?” he jabbed.
