The Office of the Attorney General has withdrawn all criminal charges against the third accused person in the ongoing trial of Kwabena Adu-Boahene, Angela Adjei Boateng and Advantage Solutions Limited.
A formal notice, signed by Deputy Attorney General Dr Justice Srem-Sai and filed at the High Court in Accra on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, announced the withdrawal of prosecution under Section 59 of the Criminal and Other Offences (Procedure) Act, 1960 (Act 30). The notice, addressed to the court and the lawyers of the accused persons, stated that the Attorney General had decided to discontinue prosecution against the third accused person in respect of all charges brought against her.
A copy of the letter sighted by this outlet confirms that the decision was made “pursuant to Section 59” of the Act and was dated at the Office of the Attorney General, The Law House, Liberia Road, Accra. It bears the signature of Dr Justice Srem-Sai, Deputy Attorney General, and was filed at 3:00 p.m. on October 16, 2025.
According to information available to the media, the withdrawal paves the way for the third accused person to serve as a prosecution witness in the case. Sources indicate that the decision forms part of the prosecution’s strategy to strengthen its evidence against the remaining accused persons.
The trial, which involves alleged financial irregularities and breaches of procurement procedures linked to Advantage Solutions Limited, has attracted public interest due to the stature of the accused persons and the sums involved. Kwabena Adu-Boahene, a former official of the National Signals Bureau, and Angela Adjei Boateng, a former staff of the Ministry of Communications, are facing charges relating to corruption, conspiracy and money laundering.
The Attorney General’s decision comes at a time when the office has been criticised by sections of the public and the opposition for the frequent withdrawal of cases. Officials from the ministry, however, maintain that each withdrawal is guided by constitutional powers and ethical standards to ensure justice and efficiency in prosecutions.
Meanwhile, proceedings against the remaining accused persons, Kwabena Adu-Boahene, Angela Adjei Boateng and Advantage Solutions Limited, will continue at the High Court in Accra.
