The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has dismissed a media report by Assaseradio, alleging that it recorded losses exceeding GHC3 billion in its first year of operation.
The Board described the claim as entirely false and misleading, urging the public to treat it with “utmost contempt.”
In a statement released on Monday, November 17, GoldBod categorically denied the claims, stating that contrary to the “mischievous” allegations, the state-owned corporation has been profitable since its operationalization.
“The GoldBod wishes to put on record, that the publication under reference is entirely false and deliberately contrived to undermine the successes and significant contribution of the GoldBod to the revitalization of Ghana’s economy,” part of the statement read.
GoldBod further announced that its quarterly financial statements would soon be made public on its official website. This, it said, will confirm its profitability.
“Quarterly financial statements of the GoldBod, which will soon be published on the official website of the statutory corporation, will bear this fact out,” it noted.
The statement urged the public to disregard the said report, and demanded that the management of Assaseradio retract the story and render an unqualified apology to the general public for what it has described as a misleading and unethical publication.
