President John Dramani Mahama has directed the leadership of the Majority Caucus in Parliament to withdraw a Private Member’s Bill seeking to repeal the law establishing the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP).
The directive, contained in an official communication from the Presidency dated December 11, 2025, was addressed to the Majority Leader and the Majority Chief Whip. According to the statement, the President’s position reflects his commitment to strengthening the OSP as a key institution in the national fight against corruption.
The release noted that the President reiterated this commitment during a meeting with the Peace Council, where he emphasized the need for the OSP to play a more effective role in restoring public confidence and tackling corruption.
The Presidency further urged the OSP to intensify its efforts in line with the objectives that informed the establishment of the office.
