Gold Empire Resources Ltd. has welcomed recent government action to halt illegal mining on its Bonsu concession, describing the intervention as timely and decisive.
In a statement issued on January 12, 2026, the company expressed gratitude to state institutions for responding swiftly to its reports of unlawful activity. Management said the move was crucial in restoring order and protecting the integrity of the concession.
The firm warned that illegal mining remains a “grave national concern,” pointing to its destructive impact on water bodies, farmlands, and the environment. It stressed that such operations undermine livelihoods and erode investor confidence in Ghana’s mining sector.
“The recent actions taken to address the situation on the Bonsu concession are therefore commendable and should be sustained to prevent any recurrence,” the management stated.
While praising the initial response, Gold Empire Resources called for a broader investigation into the networks behind the operations. The company urged authorities to identify financiers, sponsors, and those who provided logistical support, insisting that accountability must extend beyond the labourers on the ground.
It further appealed for prosecutions under Ghanaian law, arguing that firm sanctions would serve as a deterrent to future offenders.
Reaffirming its own position, the company said it remains committed to responsible mining, environmental protection, and constructive engagement with host communities. It pledged full cooperation with investigators and promised to provide any information necessary to support due process.
