FIFA has officially opened the media accreditation process for the FIFA World Cup 2026™ for media professionals and non-rights holders (NRHs).
As in previous tournaments, FIFA has assigned a limited number of accreditations to its Member Associations for written journalists and photographers. Ghana has received a quota of 10 accreditations for written press and two for photographers. This allocation excludes broadcasters such as radio and television stations, as well as organisations holding broadcast or non-broadcast World Cup media rights.
Non-rights holder journalists may submit individual applications through the FIFA Media Hub. Photographers are also encouraged to monitor the platform for any additional accreditation opportunities that may become available.
Key Dates
• Accreditation opens: 26 January 2026
• Application deadline: 31 March 2026
Eligibility
Media accreditation is open to:
• Written press (print and digital)
• Photographers
• International and national news agencies
• Radio and TV non-rights holders (limited slots)
• FIFA Media Partners (rights holders)
Accreditation for FIFA Media Partners will be handled directly by FIFA Media Partnerships, which will contact rights-holding organisations regarding procedures and related matters. A guidance document with tips for media accreditation is also available.
FIFA Media Hub – Mandatory
All applications must be completed through the FIFA Media Hub. Applicants must have an approved, personal Media Hub account, which must not be shared.
Accreditation Control Keys and Quotas
Accreditation for written press and photographers is administered through FIFA Member Associations, each of which receives a limited quota based on factors such as previous World Cup participation and qualification status for FIFA World Cup 2026™. Member Associations distribute control keys to media organisations and freelancers. Journalists must contact their respective Member Association to obtain a control key.
Radio and Television Non-Rights Holders
NRHs are radio and television organisations without media rights for the tournament. They may apply for accreditation without a control key; however, the number of available accreditations will be extremely limited, and matchday access policies are yet to be finalised. Enquiries should be directed to nrh@fifa.org.
Host Countries (Canada, Mexico, USA)
Media professionals and freelancers working for organisations based in Canada, Mexico, or the United States will follow an accreditation process managed directly by FIFA.
Application and Approval
Applications close on 31 March 2026. All applicants are subject to mandatory security screening, and accreditation confirmations will be issued from March 2026 onward.
Media Tickets
Media accreditation does not automatically provide access to matches. Accreditation grants entry only to stadium media centres. To access media or photo positions, press conferences, or mixed zones on matchdays, accredited media must obtain a separate media ticket for each match. Media ticket applications will open shortly after the accreditation process begins and must be submitted via the FIFA Media Hub or FIFA Media App. Only accredited media may request tickets, which are currently limited to group-stage matches, with a maximum of one match per day.
Visas
Media representatives are advised to begin visa applications as early as possible. Visa processing is separate from accreditation, and applicants do not need to wait for accreditation approval before applying. Further details are available in the Visa Guidelines.
Stay Updated
All official announcements, procedures, and FAQs will be published on the FIFA Media Hub. Media professionals are encouraged to check the platform regularly. For assistance with Media Hub profiles or accreditation-related issues, enquiries should be submitted through the FIFA Media Hub Contact Form.
