Flagbearer hopeful of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kennedy Agyapong, has made a passionate appeal to party delegates to entrust him with the mandate to lead the party into the 2028 general election.
Delivering a televised address on Thursday, January 29, 2026, the former Assin Central legislator outlined his vision for the party and the nation, pledging to anchor his leadership on unity, democracy, industrialisation, and job creation.
“I do not believe in revenge politics, and I will not tolerate any attempt to shrink the party by threatening its grassroots. Be assured of this,” he said, stressing that the NPP’s strength lies in its democratic traditions.
Mr. Agyapong urged delegates to remain steadfast in defending the values on which the party was built. “The NPP was built on courage and internal democracy. So, I say to you, stand firm,” he declared.
Turning to his national agenda, he emphasized that industrialisation and employment would be the pillars of his administration if elected. “I stand for industrialisation, and that’s all my message. I am also for employment and jobs. What we need in this country is employment for the youth. So please give me the opportunity to serve you, and I will not disappoint you,” he added.
The NPP flagbearership election is scheduled for Saturday, January 31, 2026, with delegates across the country set to cast their votes. Party leadership, working in collaboration with the Electoral Commission, has assured members that adequate measures are in place to guarantee a smooth, transparent, and credible process.
As the contest draws closer, Agyapong’s message of unity and economic transformation is expected to resonate strongly among grassroots supporters, who will play a decisive role in shaping the party’s future direction.
