Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), Abeiku Santana, has announced plans to appoint model and entrepreneur Hamamat Montia alongside acclaimed musician Wiyaala as tourism ambassadors, as Ghana steps up efforts to promote its culture and locally made products on the global stage.
This announcement comes at a time of renewed debate about Ghana’s international tourism appeal, following the recent visit of American YouTuber and streamer IShowSpeed, which generated massive online buzz and revived calls for a more dynamic, youth-oriented tourism marketing approach.
Hamamat Montia has attracted growing attention not only for her success in international modelling but also for championing shea butter and natural skincare products—an industry deeply connected to Northern Ghana’s economy and largely driven by women.
Wiyaala, meanwhile, is celebrated for showcasing Ghanaian culture through her music, indigenous languages, and traditional aesthetics, gaining global recognition for her vibrant performances and bold embrace of African identity.
