A new poll by Global InfoAnalytics predicts a commanding victory for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate, Baba Jamal, in the Ayawaso East by-election set for Tuesday, March 3, 2026.
The survey, carried out between February 28 and March 1, sampled 972 voters in the constituency and indicates that Baba Jamal enjoys a wide margin over his main challenger, Baba Ali of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Findings from the poll project the NDC candidate to secure 75 percent of the vote, while Baba Ali is expected to garner 21 percent. Independent candidate Umaru Sanda Muhammed, who recently broke away from the NDC, is tipped to obtain about 3 percent.
Other contenders, including Ibrahim Iddrisu and David, are each projected to receive less than one percent, suggesting a contest largely shaped by the two dominant political parties.
The by-election comes after the death of the sitting MP, Mahama Naser Toure, who passed away in January while undergoing treatment at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, leaving the Ayawaso East seat vacant.
