Berekum Chelsea has announced the burial arrangements for their late striker, Dominic Frimpong, who lost his life in a suspected armed assault involving the team.
The 22-year-old is set to be buried on Wednesday, April 29, at Assin Dansame. A wake-keeping will take place a day earlier, on Tuesday, April 28, at the Assin Dansame Durbar Grounds.
The club noted that Frimpong is survived by his parents and nine siblings.
He died on Sunday while the team was travelling back to Berekum after their Ghana Premier League fixture against FC Samartex at Dun’s Park.
Reports from the club indicate that armed attackers intercepted the team bus, blocking the road and forcing players and officials to flee into nearby bushes to escape harm.
A number of team members were injured during the incident.
Frimpong is said to have sustained a gunshot wound to the head. He was taken to the Bibiani Government Hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.
