The Nsawam District Police Command has arrested and remanded three suspects in connection with the killing of 42-year-old Nicholas Nyadjor at Aduakrom in Nsawam earlier this month.
A Police Wireless Message indicates that the incident occurred in the early hours of March 8, 2026. Around 1:00 a.m., six armed men armed with cutlasses reportedly stormed the Nyadjor family residence.
During the attack, 24-year-old Prince Asamoah suffered a deep cut to his left palm, while Nicholas Nyadjor and one of his children managed to escape. The attackers are said to have stolen GH¢60,000 belonging to the deceased.
Later at about 6:30 a.m. the same day, Abigail Nyadjor informed police that her husband had been found dead in a nearby bush.
Police immediately launched investigations, led by District Crime Officer ASPOL Eric Darkey under the supervision of District Commander SUPOL Stephen Appiah. Officers, supported by the Eastern Regional Crime Scene Management Team, were deployed to the scene.
Investigators discovered bloodstains on walls, household items, and the compound floor, which led them approximately 17.79 metres into a nearby thicket where the body was found. The deceased was discovered naked, wrapped in a black polythene bag, and bearing multiple cutlass wounds to the back, chest, and abdomen.
A search of the area led to the recovery of a blood-stained double-edged cutlass hidden among cement blocks about 10 metres from the body. The body was later transported to the Nsawam Government Hospital for preservation and autopsy.
Intelligence gathered by police suggests that the deceased was allegedly murdered by his stepson, Prince Asamoah, and an accomplice, Wisdom Ameletsi, also known as Sariki, in the presence of Abigail Nyadjor. The suspects are also believed to have dragged and dumped the body in the bush.
Police further revealed that the suspects attempted to kill the deceased’s 15-year-old son, Richmond Nyadjor, who survived by pretending to be dead before fleeing.
Prince Asamoah was later arrested and reportedly confessed during interrogation. Continued investigations led to the arrest of Abigail Nyadjor and Wisdom Ameletsi.
All three suspects are currently on remand as investigations continue.
The police credited the swift and coordinated response for the arrests and recovery of key evidence, while urging the public to continue providing information to support crime-fighting efforts.
