Spanish police have arrested a 25-year-old man suspected of fatally shooting his parents and wounding four other people in a shooting incident in southern Spain.
Authorities said the attack occurred around 11:00 p.m. local time on Monday in El Ejido, a small town near Almería.
Four individuals, including two young children, sustained serious injuries and were rushed to hospital for treatment. Local media reports indicate that one of the injured children is believed to be the suspect’s seven-month-old son. Spanish authorities have not officially disclosed the identities of either the suspect or the victims.
According to local reports, another injured child is an 18-month-old baby, while a 60-year-old man was also among those hurt in the shooting.
The suspect reportedly fled briefly after the incident before later surrendering himself at a nearby police station, Europa Press reported.
The Guardia Civil has launched an investigation into the shooting and is working to determine the motive behind the attack.
