Accra Academy has announced that it will formally begin activities marking its 95th anniversary on May 29, 2026, under the theme “A Legacy of Pride, Purpose & Achievements.”
The launch, which is open to the general public, will take place at the Ridge Church Main Auditorium and is expected to attract alumni, current students, parents, staff, dignitaries, and other key stakeholders associated with the school.
According to the Joint 95th Anniversary Planning Committee, the celebrations will kick off a year-long programme designed to reflect on the school’s rich history while also setting the stage for its centenary in 2031.
The event will be chaired by Edward Doe Adjaho, Chairman of the Council of State.
The Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, is expected to deliver the keynote address, with Nana Oye Bampoe-Addo attending as Special Guest of Honour.
Planned activities for the launch include the unveiling of the official 95th anniversary logo, presentation of a full schedule of events, goodwill messages from invited stakeholders, and a documentary highlighting the school’s history.
Organisers also indicated that a fundraising drive will be held to support infrastructure projects at the school, alongside the sale of anniversary souvenirs to finance planned activities.
Established in 1931, Accra Academy is recognised as Ghana’s first privately founded secondary school by Ghanaian pioneers.
Over the decades, the school has earned a strong reputation for academic excellence, discipline, and leadership, producing notable alumni who have contributed significantly to national development across various fields.
