Three persons, including a four-month-old infant, have lost their lives in a fatal road accident at Buduatta Junction along the Kasoa-Winneba Highway in the Central Region.
The crash involved a private vehicle with registration number DV 9546, a fuel tanker bearing registration number GN 4328-15, and a tipper truck with registration number GT 9026-26.
Eyewitnesses said the driver of the private car, who was travelling from Winneba toward Kasoa, reportedly lost control after a pickup truck allegedly attempted a dangerous overtaking manoeuvre.
The vehicle then rammed head-on into the fuel tanker, while the tipper truck travelling behind the tanker crashed into the back of it moments later.
The impact killed the private car driver and a female passenger instantly. A four-month-old baby who was also in the vehicle later died while receiving treatment at St. Gregory Catholic Hospital in Buduburam.
Meanwhile, in a separate accident, the driver of a mini-truck sustained serious injuries after a container being carried by another truck reportedly fell onto his vehicle.
Although emergency responders quickly intervened, the victim suffered severe injuries to both legs.
Witnesses attributed the incident to the poor condition of the road and claims that the container had not been properly secured.
