The road to the 2026 FIFA World Cup has officially taken shape following the release of the tournament group standings and fixtures, with several heavyweight clashes already drawing global attention ahead of kick-off.
Ghana has been placed in Group L alongside England, Croatia and Panama in what many football observers are already describing as one of the tournament’s most competitive groups.
The Black Stars will be aiming to progress beyond the group stage despite facing a difficult challenge against 2018 World Cup finalists Croatia and European giants England. Panama completes the group as another side hoping to secure one of the qualification spots.
Defending champions Argentina headline Group J, where Lionel Messi is expected to make his sixth World Cup appearance. Argentina will compete against Algeria, Austria and Jordan as they seek to defend the title they won in Qatar four years ago.
Elsewhere, Brazil has been drawn in Group C with Morocco, Scotland and Haiti, while France will face Senegal, Iraq and Norway in Group I.
Hosts United States lead Group D, which also includes Paraguay, Australia and Turkey. Mexico, another host nation, begins its campaign in Group A against South Africa, South Korea and the Czech Republic.
Portugal, led by Cristiano Ronaldo, finds itself in Group K alongside DR Congo, Uzbekistan and Colombia.
Spain will battle Uruguay, Saudi Arabia and Cape Verde in Group H, while Germany faces Ivory Coast, Ecuador and Curaçao in Group E.
The expanded tournament format features 12 groups, with teams expected to compete for automatic qualification places as well as additional slots reserved for the best third-placed teams.
Football fans around the world are anticipating one of the most diverse World Cups in history, with nations from Africa, Asia, Europe and the Americas all strongly represented across the groups.
The tournament will be hosted across the United States, Canada and Mexico.
