The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced its final 26-man squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will take place in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
The list, released on Monday, includes prominent players such as captain Jordan Ayew, Thomas Partey, Inaki Williams, Kamaldeen Sulemana, and Antoine Semenyo.
The squad is made up of three goalkeepers, nine defenders, six midfielders, and eight attackers, highlighting a balanced team selection as Ghana prepares for the tournament.
Among the goalkeepers selected are Hearts of Oak’s Benjamin Asare, who has impressed in the Ghana Premier League, experienced shot-stopper Lawrence Ati-Zigi of Swiss club St. Gallen, and Joseph Anang of St. Patrick’s Athletic.
Benjamin Asare’s inclusion is likely to excite local supporters, as he remains one of the few home-based players to earn a place in the national team.
In defence, the squad combines experienced players with emerging talent. Baba Rahman, Gideon Mensah, and Alidu Seidu headline the defensive options, while Marvin Senaya, Abdul Mumin, Jerome Opoku, Jonas Adjetey, Kojo Oppong Peprah, and Derrick Luckassen also make the list.
The continued presence and return of some of these defenders are expected to add stability and depth as Ghana aims to improve its defensive performances during the qualifiers.
The midfield will be led by Thomas Partey, who is expected to play a crucial role in dictating play. He is joined by Elisha Owusu, Kwasi Sibo, Augustine Boakye, Caleb Yirenkyi, and Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, providing the coaching staff with a variety of options in midfield.
The blend of young prospects and experienced internationals reflects the team’s effort to balance youthful energy with experience.
In attack, Ghana will depend on a strong forward line featuring Inaki Williams, Jordan Ayew, Antoine Semenyo, and Kamaldeen Sulemana. Christopher Bonsu Baah, Ernest Nuamah, Brandon Thomas-Asante, and Prince Kwabena Adu have also been included in the squad.
