Chef Nhyiraba Zulaiha has officially commenced a 192-hour cook-a-thon at the Madina Zongo Astro Turf in Accra, in an ambitious attempt to set a new Guinness World Record for the longest individual cooking marathon.
The eight-day culinary challenge attracted scores of supporters, family members, residents and well-wishers who gathered at the venue to cheer her on as she began the record-breaking journey.
The event is expected to showcase a variety of local and international dishes, with Chef Zulaiha aiming to demonstrate endurance, creativity and culinary excellence throughout the marathon.
Speaking at the launch of the challenge, supporters praised her determination and described the initiative as an inspiration to young people, particularly women pursuing careers in the culinary industry.
Organisers say the cook-a-thon will be conducted in line with Guinness World Records guidelines, with designated resting periods, continuous monitoring and official documentation of the attempt.
The challenge forms part of a growing trend of record-attempt events in Ghana, where several individuals have embarked on endurance-based activities to gain international recognition while promoting local talent and culture.
Chef Nhyiraba Zulaiha is expected to cook continuously for 192 hours, with supporters hopeful that her effort will secure Ghana another place in the Guinness World Records books. The cook-a-thon officially commenced on June 1 and is expected to end on June 8.
