The Accra Regional Police Command has clarified that no arrests have been made in connection with Wednesday’s fire outbreak at the Accra Central Police Barracks.
The clarification follows an earlier statement that suggested a suspect had been arrested over the incident.
In a new statement issued on Thursday, the Police Command said reports of an arrest were inaccurate.
“Contrary to earlier reports suggesting that arrests had been effected in connection with the fire outbreak at the Accra Central Police Barracks, no arrests have been made at this stage of investigations,” the statement said.
Police said investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing and urged the public to disregard claims that any suspect has been arrested.
The Command also disclosed that a fire officer who sustained injuries while responding to the blaze is receiving treatment at the Police Hospital and is in stable condition.
Police commended personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service and other officers involved in managing the incident.
