Residents of Church Village near the P.V. Obeng Roundabout in Tema Community 5 have been left assessing significant losses after heavy rains caused severe flooding in the area, inundating homes and destroying household property.
According to residents, the flooding resulted from persistent rainfall over the past few days and intensified after a heavy downpour on Saturday, June 6, which left several houses submerged.
Residents also blamed the situation on the release of excess water from a nearby dam in Ashaiman, saying the overflow contributed to the worsening floods.

The disaster forced many families out of their homes and caused widespread damage to personal belongings, with affected residents making frantic efforts to rescue whatever they could from the floodwaters.
Some victims described the experience as traumatic, explaining that they had no choice but to spend the night in unsafe conditions after their homes were overtaken by water.
They are now calling on government institutions, including the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), and other relevant agencies to urgently step in with relief assistance to support affected families and help them recover from the destruction.
