Model sues Kanye West over alleged misconduct on music video set

A former model and reality television contestant has accused American rapper and fashion entrepreneur Kanye West, now known as Ye, of assaulting her during the filming of a music video in New York more than a decade ago.
Jennifer An, who appeared on America’s Next Top Model, claims the incident occurred in 2010 while she was working on a video shoot for British music act La Roux. According to her, West unexpectedly took control of part of the production and allegedly subjected her to unwanted physical contact during filming.
An said the encounter left her frightened and confused, alleging that she was not informed beforehand about what would take place during the scene.
The allegations form part of a civil lawsuit filed by An in New York under legislation that allows survivors of gender-motivated violence to pursue legal action after extended periods.
West’s legal team has denied wrongdoing, arguing that the disputed interaction occurred within the context of a theatrical performance and artistic expression during the production. His lawyers contend that An participated in the scene and did not object at the time.
The case has not yet gone to trial.
An said she later discussed the incident with Elly Jackson, who allegedly expressed concern about what had happened. Messages cited in court filings are being used as supporting evidence in the lawsuit.
The legal dispute comes as West continues to face scrutiny over a series of controversies in recent years, including public statements that have drawn widespread criticism.
A court is expected to determine whether the lawsuit will proceed after West’s legal team sought its dismissal.
