The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, has encouraged the Black Stars to display unity, pride, and determination as they kick off their 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign against Panama.
In a goodwill message released on Wednesday, June 17, he reaffirmed Parliament’s strong support for the team, noting that Ghanaians from all political, religious, and ethnic backgrounds are firmly behind the national side.
He stressed that the World Cup represents a moment of national unity that goes beyond differences, adding that the players carry the hopes of more than 30 million citizens.
According to him, the Black Stars should approach the tournament with confidence and courage, as the team has long been a symbol of pride, resilience, and hope for the country.
He urged the players to wear the national jersey with honour, work together as a cohesive unit, and give their maximum effort on the pitch, assuring them of the nation’s unwavering support.
“As Speaker of Parliament, I urge you to play with passion, confidence and belief. Let the world see the talent, discipline and character that makes Ghana a respected football nation,” he stated.
He further encouraged the squad to embrace the pressure of the global stage, describing the World Cup as an opportunity for those ready to dream big and seize the moment.
Bagbin expressed confidence that the team can inspire the nation with a strong performance and bring pride to Ghana, before concluding with a message of encouragement for a successful start to their campaign.
