A primary school headteacher in the Volta Region has been found dead in a guesthouse in Akatsi under circumstances that have prompted a police investigation.
The deceased, identified as 44-year-old Selorm Kwaku Tettey, was the headteacher of Glikpome Basic School in the Akatsi South Municipality. His body was reportedly discovered on Tuesday morning in a room at the Joli Bebe Guesthouse after a housekeeping staff member entered the room and found him unresponsive.
The discovery was immediately reported to local authorities, including the area assembly member and the police, who later visited the scene to commence investigations.
Residents and colleagues of the educator, popularly known as “TK”, have expressed shock over the incident, describing him as a dedicated teacher whose sudden death has left the community in mourning.
Preliminary observations at the scene reportedly revealed no visible signs of physical assault on the body. Investigators, however, collected several items, including a mobile phone, canned malt drinks and other personal belongings, as part of efforts to determine the circumstances surrounding the death.
The body has since been conveyed for preservation and further examination, while police continue their investigations.
The incident has sparked widespread concern in Akatsi, with many awaiting official findings that could shed light on what led to the educator’s death.
