About 300 people evacuated in Paris suburb due to ‘suspicious’ car near synagogue
Around 300 residents were evacuated from a neighbourhood in Sarcelles, a suburb of Paris with a large Jewish community, after authorities discovered a suspicious vehicle near the town’s synagogue on Saturday evening.
French Interior Minister Laurent Nunez said an investigation had been launched after what he described as a “suspicious” car was found close to the place of worship.
Speaking to French broadcaster BFM on Sunday, Mr Nunez disclosed that a military-grade weapon was recovered from the vehicle.
He added that investigators are still working to determine the motive behind the incident and identify the person responsible. Authorities have not yet announced any arrests.
