New Patriotic Party (NPP) supporter and social commentator Kwaku Osei Korankyi Asiedu, popularly known as KOKA, has reportedly been admitted to the Adabraka Polyclinic after falling ill while in custody. Reports circulating on social media on Thursday indicated that he was receiving medical treatment under security supervision.
The development comes days after reports emerged that KOKA had been detained by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), although authorities have yet to publicly disclose the specific reasons for his detention.
KOKA, a known NPP activist and aide to the party’s Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, alias Chairman Wontumi, has been involved in a number of high-profile political controversies in recent months. Earlier this year, he was invited by police for questioning in connection with ongoing investigations, though details of those enquiries were not officially made public.
Supporters of the NPP have expressed concern over his condition and are calling for updates on his health and legal status. As of the time of filing this report, neither EOCO nor the Ghana Police Service had issued an official statement on his reported hospitalization.
Further details are expected as authorities provide updates on the situation.
