Rita Konadu, popularly known on TikTok as “Mama One,” has been granted bail in the sum of GH¢50,000 with two sureties after appearing before a court over alleged offensive remarks directed at President John Dramani Mahama and First Lady Lordina Mahama.
The 49-year-old mother of four was arrested by the Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team (CVET) at Juaben in the Ashanti Region and transported to Accra to assist with investigations. Authorities accuse her of making comments on social media deemed insulting and threatening toward the President and the First Lady.
At her court appearance, the judge admitted her to bail pending further investigations. The case has attracted significant public attention, with supporters and critics debating the limits of free speech on social media and the enforcement of laws governing online conduct.
Police say investigations are ongoing and that Mama One is expected to comply with all bail conditions as the case proceeds.
