128 Ghanaian students embark on European exchange programme

More than 100 Ghanaian students will embark on a three-week educational and cultural exchange programme across Europe this weekend as part of an initiative aimed at expanding their global exposure and leadership development.

The delegation, made up of 128 students, teachers and chaperones from 32 schools nationwide, is expected to depart Ghana on July 25 for visits to Belgium, the Netherlands, France and Germany. The programme is being organised by Edibeck Consult in collaboration with Summer Camps Holland.

Participants, aged between seven and 17, will take part in a range of academic and cultural activities designed to expose them to different educational systems, historical landmarks and international institutions.

The itinerary includes museum tours, cultural workshops, sporting activities, language appreciation sessions and interactions with students from host countries. The Ghanaian delegation will also showcase aspects of Ghana’s heritage through traditional music, dance, storytelling, cuisine and cultural attire.

A major highlight of the programme will be visits to the Ghana Embassy in Brussels and the European Parliament, where participants are expected to gain insight into diplomacy, governance and international cooperation.

Speaking ahead of the trip, Chief Executive Officer of Edibeck Consult, Kwadwo Obiri Ampong, said the initiative is intended to help prepare young people for an increasingly interconnected world by exposing them to experiences beyond the classroom.

He noted that international engagement allows students to develop confidence, cultural awareness and critical skills that can contribute to their future academic and professional success.

Organisers say the programme will also introduce participants to European history, technological innovation, environmental sustainability and cultural preservation efforts, while encouraging cross-cultural understanding and collaboration.

Officials of Summer Camps Holland described international exchange programmes as valuable tools for nurturing creativity, independence and global citizenship among young people.

Parents who attended the pre-departure gathering welcomed the initiative, expressing hope that the experience would broaden their children’s perspectives and strengthen qualities such as discipline, teamwork and responsibility.

The students are expected to return to Ghana after completing the programme, bringing back new experiences and international connections gained during their stay in Europe.
