Court places 10-day injunction on Kantanka’s funeral, burial rites
An Accra High Court has issued a 10-day interim injunction preventing former Dome-Kwabenya MP Sarah Adwoa Safo from proceeding with the funeral and burial of the late Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka.
The order was granted after an application filed by the Kristo Asafo Mission concerning matters relating to the late founder’s estate, according to the Mission’s lawyer, Nana Kofi Safo Kantanka.
He said the court’s ruling temporarily bars Adwoa Safo from making funeral arrangements until the legal issues before the court are determined.
The case stems from a dispute within the Safo family over who has the legal authority to organise the funeral and carry out Apostle Kwadwo Safo’s final wishes.
As a result of the injunction, the funeral, which had been scheduled for July 30 and 31, 2026, has been suspended pending further court proceedings.
However, during an interview on Eyewitness News on Tuesday, July 28, Adwoa Safo maintained that the funeral would go ahead as planned and appealed to her brother, Kwadwo Safo Akofena, not to interfere with the arrangements.
