One dead, four injured in VIP bus crash on Accra–Kumasi Highway
One person has been killed and four others injured after a VIP Grandbird bus collided with a faulty MAN diesel truck at Frimpongso along the Accra–Kumasi Highway.
Firefighters from the Anyinam Fire Station responded swiftly to the scene and rescued passengers trapped in the wreckage.
The rescue team freed two occupants who had been trapped inside the bus and helped transport the injured to hospital for treatment.
One male victim was later confirmed dead at the medical facility, while the remaining four victims are receiving treatment.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the accident occurred when the VIP bus, while attempting to overtake, crashed into the rear of a broken-down truck that had been parked by the roadside.
The collision extensively damaged the front of the bus, while the truck’s rear section also sustained significant damage.
Authorities are expected to carry out further investigations to establish the exact cause of the crash.
