Over 300 QNET victims rescued or repatriated since 2025 — Ablakwa
More than 300 Ghanaians associated with QNET-related activities have been rescued from Nigeria and Côte d’Ivoire since the beginning of 2025, Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has revealed.
The Minister said authorities have stepped up efforts to assist citizens who found themselves stranded or trapped in exploitative situations after being lured abroad with promises of jobs and better opportunities.
Providing an update on recent interventions, Ablakwa disclosed that 246 Ghanaians identified as QNET victims had been rescued from Nigeria. He also announced the repatriation of 440 Ghanaians from Côte d’Ivoire, many of whom were affected by QNET activities as well as a large-scale demolition exercise in the country.
The Foreign Affairs Minister used the occasion to warn Ghanaians against accepting overseas job offers without proper verification, noting that illegal recruiters and trafficking networks continue to target young people seeking opportunities abroad.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterates its caution to Ghanaians, particularly the youth, to be conscious of the modus operandi of illegal recruitment agencies and human trafficking networks that promise greener pastures, milk and honey on the other side,” he said.
He urged prospective migrants to conduct thorough checks on recruitment agencies and employment offers before travelling, stressing that due diligence remains one of the most effective ways to avoid trafficking, exploitation and other forms of abuse.
