Ghanaian passport holders can now travel to the Maldives, Zambia, and Antigua and Barbuda without securing entry visas, following the ratification and implementation of visa waiver agreements between Ghana and the three countries.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the development in a public notice issued on September 8, 2026.
Under the new arrangements, eligible holders of Ghanaian ordinary, service and diplomatic passports can enter the three countries without obtaining visas, subject to the respective entry conditions.
Ghanaians travelling to the Maldives and Zambia will be allowed to stay for up to 30 days, while those visiting Antigua and Barbuda can remain for a maximum of 90 days.
The Ministry, however, stressed that visa-free entry does not remove the obligation to meet the immigration and other entry requirements of the destination countries.
Travellers are required to carry valid passports and any other documents demanded by the relevant authorities and must leave before the authorised period of stay expires.
The Ministry also clarified that Ghanaians travelling for employment, education, residence or other purposes that require specific authorisation must obtain the necessary permits before departure.
Travellers have been advised to verify the latest immigration, health and other entry requirements with the appropriate authorities or Ghana’s nearest embassy or high commission, as such regulations may be subject to change.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the visa waiver arrangements form part of efforts to make international travel easier for Ghanaian citizens while deepening bilateral relations with partner countries.
It reaffirmed its commitment to facilitating the movement of Ghanaians and strengthening Ghana’s diplomatic and bilateral ties with countries around the world.
