NACOC: More arrests likely in Ghana over France cocaine seizure
Investigations into the cocaine shipment intercepted by French customs could lead to additional arrests in Ghana and other countries, the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has indicated.
The commission says it is continuing to work with international partners following the arrest of three suspects allegedly linked to Dutch fugitive Jos Leijdekkers, widely known as “Bolle Jos.”
Speaking on TV3’s Ghana Tonight, NACOC’s Acting Director of Public Affairs and International Relations, Francis Opoku Amoah, said authorities were pursuing further leads connected to the case.
“As we are talking, we know and we believe that there could be more arrests either locally or internationally even as we engage other partners and our sources,” he said.
NACOC believes the three suspects were operating on behalf of the wanted drug trafficker and disclosed that they had been under surveillance before their arrest.
While investigators continue to track individuals connected to the network, Amoah said intelligence available to the commission does not suggest Leijdekkers has entered Ghana. He noted, however, that information shared with Ghanaian authorities points to the fugitive currently residing in Sierra Leone.
According to NACOC, concerns about Leijdekkers first emerged during engagements with Dutch authorities, who alerted Ghana to his alleged activities and wanted status. The cooperation led to efforts to monitor any possible movements into Ghana and identify persons suspected of acting on his behalf.
The commission says investigations remain active as authorities seek to uncover the full network linked to the case.
