NPP must unite and rebuild for 2028 – Akufo-Addo
Former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has called on members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to strengthen unity and intensify grassroots mobilisation as the party looks ahead to the 2028 general elections.
He made the call when the National Officers Elections Committee (NOEC) paid a courtesy visit to his office to formally invite him to the party’s 2026 National Delegates Conference.
Nana Akufo-Addo stressed that the NPP’s efforts to rebuild and renew the party would largely depend on improving internal cohesion and re-establishing strong connections with its grassroots base.
While expressing optimism about the party’s prospects in the 2028 elections, the former President emphasised the need to first establish a solid organisational structure.
He commended the NOEC for its efforts to organise the National Delegates Conference and oversee the election of new national officers.
Nana Akufo-Addo also assured the committee of his support and confirmed that he would participate in the conference.
NOEC Chairman, Frederick Opare-Ansah, shared details of the meeting in a Facebook post, expressing gratitude to the former President for receiving the delegation and providing guidance and support as preparations for the conference progress.
According to the committee, the engagement formed part of its efforts to consult key members and senior figures of the NPP ahead of the National Delegates Conference and the election of new national officers.
