At least 16 people, including five police officers, have been killed after a vehicle carrying explosives crashed into a mosque in north-western Pakistan, according to a senior police official in Peshawar.
The incident occurred in Kohat district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where a gunfight between the attackers and security forces is still ongoing.
Police said one of the suspected attackers has been killed, while rescue teams are continuing operations at the scene.
Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari expressed his condolences and wished those injured in the explosion a speedy recovery.
