Daniel Gaspar: Ghana has Africa’s best goalkeeping trio
Ghana’s Black Stars goalkeeping coach, Daniel Gaspar, has declared that the national team has the strongest group of goalkeepers in Africa.
Gaspar made the assertion in an interview with the Ghana Football Association (GFA) media team during a Black Stars training session.
Ghana is preparing to face The Gambia in a 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier at the Accra Sports Stadium on Tuesday, September 29.
The Black Stars enter the match after suffering a 2-0 defeat to Côte d’Ivoire, while The Gambia secured a 1-0 victory over Somalia. The results leave Ghana at the bottom of Group C, with Côte d’Ivoire currently leading the group.
Lawrence Ati-Zigi, Benjamin Asare and Joseph Anang are the three goalkeepers in Ghana’s current camp, and Gaspar believes the trio collectively ranks among the best goalkeeping groups on the continent.
Expressing his satisfaction at being back with the team, Gaspar praised the quality of the three goalkeepers and said he was confident that Ghana had assembled the best goalkeeping unit in Africa.
He said the goalkeepers themselves share that belief as they continue working towards their objectives with the national team.
