Private legal practitioner and New Patriotic Party (NPP) stalwart Charles Owusu Juanah says former NPP National Chairman Paul Afoko has started engaging members of rival factions within the party as part of efforts to forge a united front ahead of the 2028 elections.
Juanah, who serves as National Chairman of Friends of Bawumia, said the divisions within the NPP had created the need for leadership capable of bringing the various factions together.
According to him, Afoko has the experience and relationships needed to lead such a reconciliation process and has already begun reaching out to members across the party’s different camps.
“He has even begun interacting with opposing camps in order to form a united front ahead of the 2028 elections,” Juanah said.
He argued that Afoko’s engagements demonstrate a commitment to rebuilding the party and addressing internal divisions rather than worsening them.
Juanah said the NPP could face difficulties in preparing effectively for the 2028 election if its members remain divided.
“He has the foresight, vision, and strategy to ensure there’s a united front,” he said.
He added that Afoko had already initiated discussions with some party members as part of the reconciliation effort.
Juanah further said Afoko’s approach reflected the need for leadership that could engage different factions and prevent political disagreements from becoming permanent divisions.
He said Afoko’s relationships across the party could also help reconnect with members who have become alienated.
“If there’s anyone who can ensure all disgruntled members come together, then it’s no other than Paul Afoko,” he said.
Juanah stressed that reconciliation would be crucial to strengthening the NPP’s internal structure as it prepares for the 2028 elections.
He said Afoko’s engagement with members from rival camps was in line with his “Reunite, Rebuild, and Recapture” message.
