Ghanaian boxer Seth “Freezy Macbones” Gyimah has added the WBO Africa Light Heavyweight title to his career achievements after beating Nigeria’s Godday “Zodsolo” Appah on points in Lagos.
Gyimah dominated the 10-round bout at the Balmoral Convention Centre on Thursday, October 1, with all three judges scoring the contest in his favour.
The victory marks another milestone for the 37-year-old, who only began boxing professionally at the age of 27. He entered the fight with 12 wins and one defeat, having stopped Jamiu Animashaun in the first round of his previous bout in April.
Reflecting on his journey after the victory, Gyimah said his success showed that starting late should not stop anyone from pursuing their ambitions.
“I can’t believe this. I give thanks to myself. I am proud of myself. I never gave up on myself,” he said.
Gyimah is expected to return to the ring in December after another Nigerian boxer challenged him following his title win.
