President John Dramani Mahama has arrived in Alamein, Egypt, to participate in the eighth African Union (AU) Mid-Year Coordination Summit and the maiden Alamein Africa Forum.
The forum, which is being held alongside the summit, begins on Saturday with an address by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, followed by a keynote presentation from Nigerian business magnate Aliko Dangote.
President Mahama is expected to deliver a keynote address during a plenary session themed “Investing in Health: Manufacturing and Regional Value Chains.”
His presentation will examine healthcare not only as a social obligation but also as a strategic economic sector with significant investment opportunities, with emphasis on manufacturing and the expansion of regional value chains.
The Heads of State session of the AU Mid-Year Coordination Summit is scheduled for Sunday.
President Mahama is also expected to engage in bilateral discussions on the sidelines of the meetings, including talks with President el-Sisi.
The events are aimed at promoting Africa’s economic integration and sustainable development by bringing together governments, businesses and financial institutions to identify investment opportunities and deepen partnerships across the continent.
