Police restore calm at Manso-Nseina after shooting incident

The Ashanti South Regional Police Command says it has restored calm at Manso-Nseina in the Ashanti Region following a shooting incident involving police officers and some local youth that left one person dead and a police officer injured.

In a statement issued on Friday, October 16, 2026, the Command said preliminary investigations showed that the incident occurred after a group of youth attacked a police team and demanded the release of a suspect arrested in connection with a narcotics-related offence. One person was shot during the confrontation.

The deceased’s body has been deposited at the morgue for preservation and autopsy, while the injured officer is receiving medical treatment.

The Regional Commander and a team of officers subsequently visited the community and held engagements with local leaders. Security has since been strengthened in the area as investigations into the incident continue.
