STC interdicts driver over viral Pokuase overtaking incident

Intercity State Transport Coaches Limited (STC) has interdicted a driver seen in a viral social media video allegedly colliding with a Sprinter bus while overtaking at Pokuase before driving away from the scene.

In a public notice issued on Friday, October 16, the company said the driver had been identified and suspended from duty pending investigations and the outcome of disciplinary proceedings.

STC management said it had launched an immediate investigation into the incident and was awaiting an official report from the Pokuasi Police Command to establish the circumstances surrounding the event.

The video shows an STC bus attempting to overtake a Sprinter bus before making contact with it and continuing its journey without stopping.

The company described the driver’s alleged conduct as unacceptable, emphasising that it fell short of the safety standards and professional values it upholds.

Management said it was treating the matter seriously and would take appropriate action after completing the necessary investigations and disciplinary procedures.

STC also reaffirmed its commitment to passenger safety and responsible road use, while thanking members of the public for drawing its attention to the incident.
