The Technical University Teachers’ Association of Ghana (TUTAG) will hold an Extraordinary Congress on Monday, October 26, 2026, to consider proposals from the Vice-Chancellors of Technical Universities Ghana (VCTU-G) for suspending its ongoing industrial action.
The decision follows discussions between the leadership of TUTAG and VCTU-G aimed at addressing the unresolved issues that triggered the strike.
In a letter dated Friday, October 23, 2026, and signed by its General Secretary, Dr Francis Fonyee Nutsugah, TUTAG commended the vice-chancellors for their concern and commitment to resolving the dispute amicably.
The association reaffirmed its willingness to engage in constructive dialogue and work collaboratively towards a settlement acceptable to both parties.
To build consensus ahead of the congress, TUTAG has called on VCTU-G members to engage the chairpersons of their respective local chapters and encourage them to support the proposed suspension of the industrial action.
“We therefore consider it particularly important that the proposed engagements with the Local Chapter Chairmen take place ahead of Congress, to help build the necessary consensus towards a favourable outcome,” the letter stated.
TUTAG explained that the congress would allow its national executive to present and deliberate on the proposals and position put forward by VCTU-G.
The association also reiterated its appreciation for the vice-chancellors’ efforts and expressed hope that continued cooperation would help resolve the outstanding concerns.
The planned congress comes as the ongoing industrial action by university administrators continues to affect administrative services at public universities.
