The second batch of recruits into the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has reported to training centres across the country to begin a six-month Basic Military Training programme in preparation for military service.
In a Facebook post, the GAF said the recruits officially reported to their respective training schools on Friday, October 23, 2026, to commence the programme.
The recruits have been assigned to five institutions: the Army Recruit Training School, Air Force Recruit Training School, Navy Recruit Training School, Armour Training School and Army Special Operations Training School.
Throughout the six-month programme, they will undergo intensive training aimed at developing discipline, professionalism and an understanding of the core values of the Armed Forces.
The curriculum includes field craft, first aid, weapon handling, military drill, map reading and physical fitness training.
The programme is designed to equip the recruits with the knowledge and practical skills needed to meet military standards and uphold the traditions and values of the Ghana Armed Forces.
Meanwhile, Interior Minister Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak has announced that the government will not open applications for new recruitment into the various security services in 2027, as it focuses on clearing the backlog of qualified applicants awaiting enlistment.
The Minister said the decision follows directives from President John Dramani Mahama, explaining that priority would be given to applicants who had completed the recruitment process and met all the requirements but were unable to enter training because of limited capacity.
