The National Democratic Congress (NDC) is expected to close nominations for its national executive positions on Monday, November 9, as the party progresses with its 2026 internal electoral programme ahead of the election of new national officers in December.
The nomination period will run from Saturday, November 7, to Monday, November 9, following the 14-day window given to interested aspirants to complete and submit their nomination forms.
According to the party’s electoral timetable, candidates contesting for national executive positions will undergo vetting on Thursday, November 12, and Friday, November 13, at the party’s National Secretariat.
An appeals process has been scheduled for Sunday, November 15, and Monday, November 16.
The internal electoral exercise will end with the NDC National Congress on Saturday, December 19, 2026, when new national executives are expected to be elected.
Regional elections scheduled for November 14–15
Before the national congress, the party will organise its Regional Youth and Women Conference on Friday, November 13, followed by regional executive elections on Saturday, November 14, and Sunday, November 15.
The regional polls form part of the NDC’s wider reorganisation exercise, which seeks to establish new leadership structures across the party ahead of the 2028 General Elections.
National Youth and Women Conference
The NDC has also fixed Saturday, December 12, for its National Youth and Women Conference, although the venue has not yet been announced.
The conference will take place a week before the National Congress on December 19, which will bring the party’s 2026 internal electoral process to a close.
Party urges members to follow electoral timetable
The party has called on its regional and constituency executives, aspirants and members to familiarise themselves with the electoral schedule and strictly observe the procedures, timelines and deadlines.
It emphasised that compliance with the timetable would help protect the credibility and integrity of the elections while ensuring that every stage of the process was conducted fairly and transparently.
The NDC also commended its members, executives and other stakeholders for their continued commitment, discipline and dedication to the party’s principles.
It expressed confidence that the unity and cooperation demonstrated during the reorganisation exercise would further strengthen the party as it prepares for the 2028 General Elections.
