Aspirants seeking leadership positions in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have three days to complete the final stage of their nomination process, with the party ruling out extensions beyond 5:00 pm on November 9.
The party’s Director of Elections and IT, Mahdi Gibril, said candidates must deliver their completed nomination documents in person at the party’s national headquarters between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm from Saturday, November 7, to Monday, November 9.
He cautioned that completing the application process online would not be sufficient to secure a place in the contest. Aspirants must also submit physical copies of Forms A, B and C, together with their photographs and curricula vitae, to the relevant election committees.
Mr Gibril said anyone who misses the Monday deadline will be excluded from the December 19 national executive elections.
The filing exercise will be followed by vetting on November 11 and 12, after which candidates who satisfy the party’s requirements will proceed to the next stages of the electoral process.
The NDC’s Congress Elections Committee has also outlined additional documentation required from aspirants, including a vision statement, original academic certificates and other credentials for verification, a photograph with a red background and evidence of payment of the prescribed filing fee. Only those who have paid the required fee will be eligible to submit their forms.
The national leadership contest is part of the party’s wider internal reorganization, which will culminate in its National Delegates Congress on December 19, 2026. The party previously announced that 137 prospective candidates had picked nomination forms for 14 national executive positions.
Beyond the national contest, the party is also preparing for its regional executive elections scheduled for November 14 and 15. Mr Gibril said the Electoral Commission was overseeing the printing of ballot papers, which was about 80 per cent complete at the time of his update.
He added that the Ghana Police Service would be responsible for security at the regional polls. Personal security details attached to ministers and Members of Parliament, as well as party security personnel, would not be allowed within the voting perimeter, he said.
The party expects the police to apply security arrangements similar to those used during its constituency-level elections.
